Today I’m going to share with you a method to get the first 100 subscribers to your email list. Email marketing is one of the most effective ways to sell your products and services. It allows you to connect DIRECTLY to your audience so you can offer them great content and keep them updated with your products and services. This not only provides quality information for them to use and enjoy, but allows you to directly (or indirectly) pitch them a product or service which you know will benefit them. However, before I get into it I first want to tell you…
WHAT NOT TO DO
The majority of businesses are making the same mistake when it comes down to email marketing.
I see huge number of online marketers doing the same thing.
The issue is that they make the emails all about them. showing off their latest product or services, discounts and promotional offers…
Your audience are allergic to boastful, self-promoting material. They will be instantly turned off from your email, even if it does also contain quality information. This will cause them to stop opening your future emails, or unsubscribe from you list.
THESE EMAILS ARE ALL ASKING AND NOT GIVING
The first thing I said you can (and should) give to your subscribers is content. This means give them quality information and content related to why they subscribed to you in the first place.
If you only ask your audience to do things for you such as like, comment, share, or purchase from you then already you are losing their interest.
You need to give them value consistently so they know they can trust you and eventually want to buy from you.
Imagine receiving emails from a friend who only wants you to help them with something or keep asking you for money. You would hate it from a friend, so you will certainly hate it from a stranger.
TO STOP THIS
Before someone signs up to your list, you need to let them know exactly what it is they can expect from you.
You need to assure them you are there to benefit them (give value) and not just going to sell to them (asking from them).
Email addresses are very personal so if you send essentially spam just promoting your services you will lose their trust and they WILL UNSUBSCRIBE FROM YOUR LIST (they will also resent you for it… making it even harder to rebuild that trust)
HOW CAN YOU BUILD TRUST?
The most effective way is to offer something for free for them to subscribe to your list.
You will find all major businesses offer something in exchange for an email address. This works because they are being upfront with what exactly the person can expect from them.
The most common offers are:
- Quick ‘How to’ guide book – These are short e-books which you can offer your audience to give them more information about your industry. For example If you were to sign up to receive my weekly letter, I will send you my ‘Top 5 ways to get FREE & TARGETED traffic to your business website’. These are tips which I personally use every day in my business so I know they work.
- Video content – Videos can range from anything like a tutorial or a short course. Many businesses that have paid courses now offer a free online course which is essentially a taster of what their audience can expect if they were to register for a paid course.
- Vouchers, discounts, and free samples – Many clothing companies offer a discount code to anyone who signs up for their mailing list. Health supplement businesses offer free samples of the products they sell.
All of these are not only tempting to your audience, but give them genuine, quality, free content which they can use and enjoy.
HOW TO KEEP THEM HAPPY
Offering your audience a free gift in exchange for their email address only gets them on your email list… It doesn’t keep them there!
If you don’t have a strategy to keep them happy by providing quality content, you are likely to lose them once they receive their free gift.
Plan what you intend to send your subscribers on a consistent basis – ensure it is content which you know they will enjoy… even if it may be one of your offers – Just don’t force feed your audience your offer.
Providing your audience with valuable content consistently is the formula to build trust between the two of you. Without trust you will lose them from your list.
BONUS: HOW TO MANGE YOUR LIST
Having a list of hundreds (or even thousands) of people who are interested in what you have to offer is an incredibly powerful tool to make sales consistently- So make sure you treat this list with the upmost care.
There are a variety of services you can use to manage your subscribers and track the success rate of your emails.
The success rate is based on things such as how often your emails are opened, what links did your audience click on, etc.
A free service you can use is MailChimp. They allow you to manage an email list of up to 2000 people, absolutely free. They also offer various paid upgrades which help your email marketing campaigns.

You need to keep track of your progress and consistently tweak your strategies to get the best success rates for your campaigns.
